All-on-4 Dental Implants – Corpus, Christi

Strong & Reliable Full-Arch Tooth Replacement

Dental implants are small titanium cylinders, or posts, that replace the roots of lost teeth, but does that mean you need a dental implant for each missing tooth? Not necessarily. In fact, with the All-on-4 treatment, you may be able to enjoy strong and reliable full-arch tooth replacement with just four implant posts. Even better, you can receive a denture on the same day that you get your implants! How Do All-on-4 Dental Implants Work?

During the All-on-4 procedure, we strategically place four implants within the jawbone. Two go toward the front of the mouth, and two go toward the back at an angle. This placement pattern utilizes areas of the bone that are naturally strong and thick. Therefore, even patients who have lost some bone density in their jaw may be candidates for All-on-4.

After the implants are in place, we immediately attach a provisional (temporary) denture to them. That is why this treatment is sometimes called Teeth in a Day. After a healing period, the provisional denture gets replaced with a permanent one.

You may be a candidate for All-on-4 dental implants if:

  • You have lost all or most of your teeth throughout a dental arch.
  • You are free of active gum disease and other oral health conditions that could interfere with the success of your restored smile.
  • You are well enough to undergo minor surgery.
  • You have good habits that will help your implants to endure for the long-term.
  • You have adequate bone density in your jaw to support dental implants.

Most people who are interested in All-on-4 treatment do qualify for it, either right away or after some preliminary procedures.

Benefits of All-on-4 Dental Implants

All-on-4 dental implants offer some remarkable benefits:

  • All-on-4 dentures are permanently secured in the mouth, so in many ways, you can treat them just like natural teeth.
  • Easy maintenance. Taking good care of your dental implants requires a thorough oral hygiene routine and other simple steps.
  • Jawbone preservation. Dental implants can stimulate your jawbone and help to keep it healthy and whole.
  • A strong bite. All-on-4 can provide a bite force that can stand up to virtually any food.
  • A beautiful appearance. All-on-4 dentures are carefully designed so they look and feel as natural as possible.

All-on-4 vs. Traditional Dental Implants

There are some differences between All-on-4 and traditional dental implant treatment:

  • All-on-4 usually requires just one surgery, while traditional implants may require two or more.
  • Because All-on-4 uses fewer implants, it is less invasive than full-arch tooth replacement with traditional implants.
  • All-on-4 allows you to get a new set of teeth right away. With traditional implants, there is usually a healing period of a few months where a patient has to live without teeth.
  • Traditional implants may provide a stronger base of support for prosthetic teeth than All-on-4.
  • Traditional implants can replace any number of teeth, while All-on-4 is limited to full-arch replacement.
